HR Assistant Manager
About the Role:
The HR Assistant Manager supports the Human Resources Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Human Resources Department. The role assists in leading recruitment, employee relations, payroll administration, compliance, performance management, employee engagement, and HR projects while ensuring alignment with company policies and applicable Aruba labor legislation. The HR Assistant Manager serves as the second-in-command of the department, providing leadership, guidance, and operational support to ensure an efficient, compliant, and people-focused HR function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the HR Manager in overseeing daily HR operations and act as second-in-command.
- Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and offboarding.
- Support payroll administration, attendance management, HR systems, and employee records.
- Advise management and employees on HR policies, procedures, and Aruba labor legislation.
- Assist with employee relations, conflict resolution, disciplinary matters, and workplace concerns.
- Coordinate performance evaluations, employee development, and recognition programs.
- Lead employee engagement, wellness, internal communication, and employer-branding initiatives.
- Guide and support HR team members and ensure timely completion of departmental tasks.
- Prepare HR reports, analyze workforce data, and recommend improvements.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and legally compliant HR documentation.
- Lead assigned HR projects and introduce technology, automation, and AI to improve efficiency and employee experience.
- Represent or manage the HR department in the HR Manager’s absence.
Requirements:
- Fluent in English, Dutch, Papiamento, and Spanish, both written and spoken.
- Strong knowledge of Aruba Labor Law, HR best practices, and employment legislation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), HRIS, Payroll Pro, time and attendance systems, and digital HR platforms.
- Experience using Canva and social media platforms to support employer branding, recruitment, and employee engagement.
- Tech-savvy with a strong interest in digital innovation, Artificial Intelligence (AI), automation, and emerging HR technologies to improve efficiency and employee experience.
- Open-minded and adaptable, with a continuous improvement mindset and willingness to embrace new technologies, systems, and ways of working.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and decision-making skills with the ability to guide and support HR team members.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational, project management, and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- High level of confidentiality, professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail when handling sensitive employee information.
- Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to lead HR initiatives independently while contributing effectively as part of the management team.
